Open Question: Transfer from NROTC to USNA?

I'm a U.S. South Korea. I have to be here for at least 4-5 more months. I want to attend the Naval Academy, but currently my only way to get a referral is through the Vice President. By law, the Vice President can only refer/ nominate 5 candidates who are living abroad per a year. So basically, I have to attend a college in the U.S. for at least 6 months in order to attain residency status in the U.S. and be able to increase my chances of being referred, since more options become available. So my questions are: If I were to attend NROTC for a year, would it be possible for me to be able to go into the Naval Academy? Would credit hours be moved if I were able to be accepted and attend, or would I have to retake courses? What about the trainings? And sources please, I've asked this question before and I've received a variety of answers. None of them with any sources. @Chris: Nope @Lana: That was not helpful at all. I know how the admissions process works. You pretty much copied/pasted from the USNA website what I already summerized in my question description. @Mrsjvb: Maybe because I've read through the Naval Academy website hundreds of times to try to find this info and contacted the Navy Recruiters that I know personally, but have not found any info related to transfers from NROTC to the Service Academy from the USNA website, and have not heard back from any of the Navy recruiters or been answered with a "let me get back to you on that"? @Tom Most helpful answer so far. Another option I was considering was going enlisted and then applying to the USNA. I'll have to look into NAPS. But I'm still wondering about transferring as a NROTC midshipment at a college like Cornell and then Transferring to the Naval Academy after 1 year. Do college credits transfer? Do I still have to go 4 years? Trainings? Etc... Read More »
